How to prepare for an international trade fair

An international trade fair yields tangible results when it is prepared methodically, even before the event opens. Simply being present at the fair is not enough: the agenda, key contacts, commercial messages and follow-up activities must be defined in advance, so as to turn every meeting into a genuine opportunity for growth.

Before the trade fair

WDR works alongside the company to define clear and measurable objectives, consistent with its internationalisation strategy. These objectives may relate, for example, to acquiring new customers, seeking distributors or business partners, entering new markets, or strengthening relationships with existing contacts.

Based on the priorities identified, WDR assists in selecting the most promising prospects and establishing contact with them prior to the event. This enables the company to arrive at the trade fair with an organised schedule, pre-confirmed appointments and prior knowledge of the companies to be met, thereby avoiding reliance solely on casual contacts made during the exhibition days.

WDR also helps prepare sales messages and essential materials, tailoring them to the market, the profile of the contacts and the company’s objectives. Presentations, product sheets, sales pitches and communications must be concise, clear and capable of immediately highlighting the value of the offering.

Preparation also includes organising appointments, setting priorities and gathering useful information to approach each meeting with a clear understanding of the situation. In this way, the team arrives at the trade fair with a clear direction, a coherent proposal and a greater chance of turning conversations into concrete business relationships.

The support provided by WDR therefore helps to minimise improvisation, optimise the time spent at the trade fair and focus resources on the contacts with the greatest potential. The trade fair thus becomes part of a structured sales process, rather than an isolated event, with verifiable objectives, actions and results.
